For over two decades, Paducah Power System (PPS) has been at the forefront of providing high-quality fiber internet services to some of our community’s most critical service providers. Now, we are excited to announce the launch of our Fiber to the Home Pilot Project, aiming to bring the same level of excellence directly to residents in our community.

Our Fiber Network Legacy

Since 2004, PPS has been a pioneer in fiber optic technology, connecting all our substations with a robust 61-mile fiber backbone. This infrastructure not only enhanced our system’s reliability but also laid the foundation for a network that supports economic development, education, and health services across western Kentucky. Our PPS FiberNet has been the backbone for multiple local internet providers and has directly served key community entities such as city
government, local hospitals, and schools. These institutions have benefited from point-to-point connections, saving thousands of dollars monthly and enhancing their operational efficiencies.

Why Residential Fiber?

The demand for reliable, high-speed internet has never been higher. For years, our community members have requested that we extend our fiber services to residential areas. In response, we are embarking on this Fiber to the Home Pilot Project to explore our capability to provide home fiber internet services. This pilot is a crucial step in determining the feasibility of a broader rollout across our entire service territory.

How the Pilot Works

The success of this pilot project depends on several factors, including adoption rates in our initial pilot neighborhoods and the demonstrated demand from areas outside these neighborhoods. We have established service in select neighborhoods with infrastructure and population density that will help us assess the viability of a wider deployment. A map of current availability is available on our Home Internet Service page where residents in the service area can sign up for service by completing an online form or calling us at (270) 575-4000.

Future Expansion

If the pilot is successful, we plan to expand our fiber internet services to additional neighborhoods. This expansion will be guided by various factors, including the demand for service as evidenced by completed request forms from residents. If you are interested in having your neighborhood included in our future expansion, please complete the form on our Residential Service page.
